We use your details to answer your questions, deliver your order and keep our records. This privacy notice explains how we do that and your rights under the GDPR (called the AVG in Dutch).

2. What we use and why
- Questions: your contact details and message, to reply. We rely on steps you request before a purchase, or our legitimate interest in answering other enquiries.
- Orders and returns: your name, contact details, addresses, ordered items, payment status and related correspondence, to fulfil our contract with you.
- Accounts: invoice and transaction records, to meet our legal bookkeeping obligations.
- Website security: technical request information, such as IP addresses and server logs, for our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and available.
You can browse without placing an order. We need the required checkout details to deliver your order. Our contact form only prepares an email on your device; we receive it once you send it through your email app. Please do not include payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
3. Who handles the information
Hostinger provides our product catalogue, basket, orders and checkout; Stripe and your selected payment provider process payments. We receive payment status and references, not full card details. Our delivery, email, hosting and accounting providers receive only information needed for their services. We may share information where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data.
Payment providers may also use data for their own legal, fraud-prevention or eligibility checks. See Hostinger’s privacy notice and Stripe’s privacy notice, plus the notice of any other payment provider you choose.
Some service providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we use recognised legal safeguards, such as an EU adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for details of the safeguards for your data.
4. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and order correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your question, purchase, return or any related claim. We delete records when they are no longer needed. Dutch law requires us to keep basic financial records for seven years. Website preferences expire after six months.
5. Cookies and preferences
This website remembers your language, cookie and movement preferences for six months. These essential settings are stored on your device and can be cleared below. If you choose “Allow analytics”, we use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-9V1BTZJ26T) to understand visits and how people use the shop. Google Analytics is not loaded until you give permission. You can change your choice at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer. We do not use advertising cookies.
Google may process analytics information on our behalf when you consent. Depending on Google’s infrastructure, processing may involve countries outside the EEA, subject to Google’s applicable transfer safeguards. Hostinger checkout may provide separate cookie settings; manage optional checkout cookies there. Services such as Instagram and Google Maps open only when you follow their links. Hosting services may use essential security or sign-in cookies.
6. Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or, where applicable, portability of your data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If consent is used, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Email hello@geahouseoftaste.com. We normally respond within one month; we will explain any permitted extension within that month. We may check your identity proportionately. You can also complain to the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
GĒA does not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you. We update this notice when our use of data changes.
Basket and checkout
To provide your basket, we use necessary session storage (gea-basket-v1) containing a basket ID, access token and, when needed, a checkout link. It expires after at most 24 hours and is normally removed when you close the tab. Your product selections are sent to Hostinger to process your basket and order. You enter address and payment details at Hostinger checkout. This is not analytics or advertising tracking.
